MAURICEVILLE

WOMEN'S DIVISION. (“Times-Age” Special.) Miss G. Heckler presided over a large attendance at the meeting of the Mauriceville branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union which was held in the hall. After the routine business had been disposed of the competitions were judged and with the abundance and the class of entries this proved a hard task. Mrs H. Trass secured first prize with a beautiful hyacinth for champion bloom, with Mrs C. Hodgins second. Mrs Trass also carried off the prize for the best collection of spring flowers, with Mrs F. Pain second. The competition for a frock was won by Mrs A. Larsen and for hand knitted men’s socks by Miss E. Dagg. It was decided to hold a dance on October 18 to celebrate the birthday of the branch. Spring Weather, A spell of most favourable weather has been experienced and home gardens and the countryside generally have greatly benefited. The dairy companys operations are fast approaching full swing, and farmers have experienced a very favourable lambing season. Personal. Miss D. Palmer recently spent a few days at her home in Mauriceville West.
