FODDER FROM WOOD
NEW BAVARIAN INDUSTRY. The construction of the first factory for the production, on a.large scale, of cattle fodder from . wood has been begun at Regensburg on the Danube, in Bavaria, where 15'1,000 tons of waste wood from the sawmills and forests will be dealt with yearly. From this quantity 20,000 tons of carbohydrate concentrate will be extracted, which is then converted into 10,000 tons of cattle fodder. If this venture proves successful, as preliminary experiments have indicated it is likely to be. there would appear to be ample scope for the establishment of a similar industry in the Dominion.
