WEATHER

Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.5. Shade temperature: Maximum 56.8, minimum 37.5, terrestrial 27.9. Sunshine, 3 hours. Rain, 2 points. Frost, 2.5 degrees. General situation: An anti-cyclone still covers New Zealand; pressure is very uniform, the highest readings being east of the South Island. Forecast: Light,' variable winds, chiefly southeasterlies, but tending to northerly tomorrow; a few isolated showers still possible east of the ranges but weather mainly fine; moderate day but cool night temperatures with a few frosts. It seems that a county cricketer, who usually goes in ninth wicket down, has the reputation of being a practical joker. The wag of the tail, in fact.
