Miss Jean Whyte has returned to Carterton from a visit to Suva. Mrs S. Nicol, Lincoln Road, Masterton, is a patient in Glenwood Hospital. Mrs Boyd, of Palmerston North, and formerly of Masterton, is the guest of Mrs P. Nielsen, Coradine Street. Mrs W. Bagley, of Masterton, was the guest of Mrs J. Swanney, of Kaitawa, for the weekend. A Palmerston North visitor to Pongaroa is Miss Outram, who is the guest of Mrs P. Wiltshire. Mrs S. A. Rombach, of Mangatainoka, is visiting Pahiatua and will later leave for Rongotea. Mrs J. C. Wickham, Dominion President of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, is the guest of Mrs C. C. Jackson, Kopuaranga. Mrs Len Turner, of Feilding, who has been spending a short holiday with Mr and Mrs N. Bicknell, Mangatainoka, has returned home. Mrs W. N. Benson, Dunedin, will arrive at Wellington at the end of the week, where she will attend the annual meeting of the Dominion executive of the National Council of Women. Mrs Benson is president of the Dunedin branch, which she will represent. Among those present at the Little Theatre Society’s function in the Savage Club Rooms on Wednesday night were Mesdames E. J. Boddington, E. Brass, M. Caselberg. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Jeanette, elder daughter of Constable and Mrs N. A. Trussing, Martinborough, to Allen Frederick, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. Laurence, Hukanui, Pahiatua. FEATHERSTON ’’(“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs Stephen Best (Wanganui), is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs H. Clark. On Saturday night, Mrs Marshall, of Auckland, Mrs Johns and Mr Rush, whose birthdays occur within a few days of each other, celebrated the occasion at the Brown Owl, when a very pleasant time was spent in dancing. They were the recipients of many good wishes from their friends who had journeyed over the hill to join the party.
