PUBLIC NOTICES. NOTICE OF NOMINATION-DAY AND POLLING-DAY. TN pursuance of the Electoral Act, 1927, I, Duncan C. E. Webster, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Masterton, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a writ bearing date the twenty-second day of September, 1938, under the hand of the Clerk of Writs, an election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as member for the said district, and that the latest hour for receiving nominations of candidates will be noon on the third day of October, 1938, and that the poll, if necessary, will be taken at the several poll-ing-places of the said district on the fifteenth day of October, 1938. Every person desirous of becoming a candidate must be nominated by not less than two electors of the district, by a nomination-paper as prescribed by section 110 of the said Act, delivered to the Returning Officer on or before NOON on the third day of October, 1938. Webster, ReturningOfficer for the Masterton Licensing District, do hereby give notice that, on the 15th day of October, 1938, the day appointed for taking the Electoral Poll for the Electoral District of Masterton, simultaneously therewith a LICENSING POLL will be taken upon the following proposals: — LOCAL RESTORATION. LOCAL NO-LICENSE. And concurrently with the taking of the said Licensing Poll there will be submitted for the determination of the electors of the said Licensing District the following proposals: — NATIONAL CONTINUANCE. STATE PURCHASE & CONTROL. NATIONAL PROHIBITION. Nominations of persons to appoint scrutineers in accordance with the Licensing Act, 1908, and the Amendments thereto, in respect of each of the said proposals must be lodged with me not later than five o’clock in the afternoon of the 7th day of October, 1938. And I hereby give notice that I shall, on the 10th day of October, 1938, at the hour of 10 oclock in the forenoon, at my office in the Masterton Courthouse, publicly consider all nomination-papers of persons to appoint scrutineers which have been duly lodged in respect of the Licensing Poll for the said Licensing District and in respect of the National Licensing Poll.
