LADIES’ REST ROOM
PROVISION IN MASTERTON. APPEAL FOR SUBSCRIPTIONS. “In order to meet a longfelt want the Borough Council has taken over the Hospital Board’s building at the corner of William and Dixon streets and proposes to redecorate the interior and furnish it comfortably for the purpose of a Rest Room for women and their small children,” stated the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan this morning. “The building has been inspected by representatives of the various ladies’ organisations in the town and district and pronounced admirably suitable for the purpose and very conveniently situated. The redecoration is already in hand and I have thought that, as this is to be a district service and convenience. the district would be pleased to be associated with us in providing the furniture for it. I am accordingly opening a subscription list and appeal for support to the residents of Masterton and the surrounding district. Contributions will be acknowledged through the Press. I hope that the prevailing election atmosphere will not be allowed to militate against the success of this appeal.” Mr Jordan has opened the subscription list himself with a donation of £2 2s.
