METHODIST CHURCH
LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. An “At Home” meeting of the Masterton Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held at the residence of Mrs F. C. Daniell, Essex Street, on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. F. Parker presiding over a large attendance of members and friends. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Wilden and Blinkhorne. A report of tne recent congregational social was given, showing that the gathering had been both successful and entertaining. Freezias kindly donated by Mrs Lyttle were sold for Guild Funds. An invitation was received from Mrs Saunders, of Essex Street, to hold the next guild meeting at her home was accepted with thanks. Mesdames Milne and McEwen consented to take charge of a “Bring and Buy” table at that meeting. A hearty welcome was accorded to visiting ladies who provided items, the programme being as follows: —Vocal duets, Mesdames Traynor and Carstens; recitations, Miss B. Mannell; solos, Mesdames Traynor and Carstens, pianoforte duet, Misses Joan Stanley and Jean McLagan. Afternoon tea was dispersed by the social committee. A small token of esteem was presented to Miss Wilden for her mother who was absent through sickness. Mrs and Miss Wilden will shortly leave Masterton. An interesting competition was won by Mrs W. R. Nicol. A vote of thanks was passed to those who had entertained the guild members with music, song and story, and to the hostess, Mrs Daniell. The pronouncing of the benediction closed a very happy gathering.
