OBITUARY
PAULINE FREDERICK. HOLLYWOOD, September 19. The death occurred today of Pauline Frederick, the famous film and stage actress, from acute asthma. Pauline Frederick was born at Boston (Mass.) in 1885. She made her first appearance on the stage at the Knickerbocker Theatre, New York, on September 1, 1902, in “The Rogers Brothers in Harvard.”
For seven years she was seen in several New York productions and was then absent from The stage for nearly three years. In 1912 she reappeared at the Princess Theatre, Toronto, as the Marchioness of Joyeuse in “The Paper Chase.” A further run of stage successes ended in 1915, when she devoted herself to the films, appearing during the next eight years in many of the famous silent productions.
She reappeared on the New York stage in 1923, and in 1925-26 toured Australia and New Zealand. She made her first appearance on the London stage at the Lyceum in 1927 as Jacqueline in “Madame X,” afterwards returning to the United States, where she was seen once more on the New York stage as Agatha Marley in “The Scarlet Woman.”
