POLITICAL TOUR
MR SEMPLE IN TARANAKI GOOD RECEPTION IN HAWERA (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAWERA, This Day. In Hawera last night, the Minister of Public Works (the Hon R. Semple), commenced a brief political tour to embrace four centres in the Taranaki province. Mr Semple spoke on the activities of the two Departments in his charge, the address being illustrated by the screening of a film depicting old methods and new. There was an audience of a thousand and hundreds were turned away. A motion of confidence in Mr Semple as Minister - of Public Works, in Mr Savage, as Prime Minister, in the Government, and in the Labour candidate for Patea, Mr C. J. Duggan, was carried almost unanimously. Deputations on minor matters were received by the Minister yesterday afternoon. This morning the Minister proceeded to Opunake. He will be tendered a civic reception by the Central Taranaki local bodies tomorrow afternoon at Stratford, where he is to speak in the evening. He is to speak in New Plymouth on Thursday, returning to Wellington by air on Friday.
