PROFESSOR’S REPORTED DISCOVERY. IMPORTANT ADVANTAGES CLAIMED. LONDON, September 19. The “News Chronicle” says that, after 18 months’ research, Professor F. L. Hopwood, professor of physics at the University of London, has announced the discovery of an artificial radium known as radio sodium,, which is prepared from common salt by ihe bombardment of atoms. Radio sodium has several important advantages over radium. It can be administered in capsules or injected, as seven-eighths of its power disappears in two days. It is expected that the discovery will revolutionise the treatment of cancer and other diseases.
