LONDON QUOTATIONS BUTTER MARKET SLOW The London butter market was slow last week, according to the report received by the Primary Products Marketing Department. New Zealand salted butter was quoted on Friday at 120 s, a decline of 3s to 4s a cwt. on the week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: Salted, 120 s (123 s to 1245; a year ago, 116 s 6d to 117 s); unsalted, 121 s (1245; a year ago, 117 s to 118 s). Australian: Salted, 114 s to 116 s (119 s to 120 s); unsalted, 116 s to 117 s (120 s Argentine: Unsalted, 108 s to 110 s. Danish: 114 s f.0.b., 135 s to 136 s spot (114 s 135 s to 1365). Dutch: Unsalted, Ills ex 114 s to 115 s (112 s Retail prices were unchanged, New Zealand at Is 3d and Danish at Is 4d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1123 tons. The quantity in store on Friday was 4584 tons, as against 5677 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter were 1078 tons, the quantity left in store being 4290 tons, as against 2875 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee’s estimate of the stock of all butter in store was 1,244,362 boxes, as against 816,974 boxes a year ago. The cheese market was quiet, New Zealand at 72s 6d to 73s a cwt. showing a decline of 6d a cwt on the week. Friday’s closing price quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follow: — New Zealand: White and coloured, ■72 s 6d to 73s (735; a year ago, 67s 6d; coloured, 68s 6d). Australian: White and coloured, 68s to 70s (68s to 70s).

Canadian: White and coloured, 71s to 725. (71s to 725); c.i.f., 71s (69s Gd); old season’s white and coloured, 78s to 80s (78s to 80s; 79s to 80s). English finest farmers’, 86s to 90s (86s to 88s); factory cheese, 66s to 68s (66s to 68s). The retail price of New Zealand cheese was unchanged at 9d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese were 11,441 crates, the quantity in store being 37,579 crates, as against 48,399 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese were 10,543 boxes, the quantity in store being 117,785 boxes, as against 128,212 boxes a year ago.
