ACUTE TENSION

STRIKE SPREADS IN SUDETEN REGIONS EGER HELD BY TROOPS. FLIGHT OF REFUGEES CONTINUES. LONDON, September 16. The greatest tension exists in' Eger. Armed troops are parading the streets, searching people for arms. The Sudeten headquarters at the Hotel Victoria are an empty ruin after the previous night’s fight. All those arrested, except one, have been released. All shops have closed,, although the municipal officers are urging people to resume work. The station is crowded by fleeing residents, and the normal roads to the frontier are subject to the closest supervision. The German news agency in Berlin states that'a general strike has begun in the Sudeten territory. Business at the large Sudeten town of Reichenberg has been broght to a standstill by the strike, which has also spread to factories, schools and other towns.

ORDER TO DISSOLVE

SERVED ON THE SUDETEN GERMANS CONFISCATION OF PARTY PROPERTY (Recd This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, September 16. The British United Press Prague correspondent says the Government has decided to dissolve the SudetenGermap Party. The correspondent states that the dissolution of the Sudeten Party is official. Storm troopers must disband, and their property is being confiscated. Simultaneously with the dissolution of the Sudeten Party, the authorities have begun measures against other “disloyal organisations, whereby their future activity will be rendered impossible.” Sudeten Party badges and uniforms are now illegal.
