EASY TRIUMPH ANTICIPATED BY NAZIS
Hitler Expected to Yield Nothing
EVEN PLEBISCITE NOW OUT OF DATE
By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, September 15. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Berlin correspondent says Mr Cnamberlain’s visit to Berchtesgaden has enormously increased British prestige. The conversations of people in all walks of life show that Britain is popularly regarded as the saviour of Europe from immediate war, which the man in the street has watched approaching with horror and dismay. The Nazis, however, believe that it means another bloodless victory over the democracies, since Herr Hitler never yields and never alters his course. Since Mr Chamberlain wishes to negotiate where the Fuehrer does not, it is assumed that Herr Hitler will not concede an inch, though he may agree to a slight slowing down of his relentless advance. Herr Henlein's “Home to the Reich” proclamation is regarded as strengthening Herr (Hitler’s hand and the Nazis say that even a plebiscite is now out of date. “The Times” Berlin correspondent similarly points out that Germans see only one solution since Herr Henlein’s proclamation, namely that the'Sudetens must re.turn to the Reich. Anti-Czech feeling has hardened during the past twenty-four hours, owing to the killing of Germans within'lso miles of .Berlin.
