MR CHAMBERLAIN’S DEMEANOUR UNFAVOURABLE INFERENCE DRAWN (Recd This Day, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, September 15. A message from Berchtesgaden states that Mr Chamberlain looked very tired on his return to his hotel and seemed to greet the crowd in a preoccupied manner. He retired immediately to his apartments. Optimism has given way to pessimism, but the communique has slightly increased hope.
