WEST SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Masterton West School Committee was held last evening. the chairman, Mr F. Shearer, presiding. Mr Shearer extended a welcome to the new headmaster, Mr D. S. Rust. Appreciation was recorded in the minutes of the services rendered by the acting-headmaster, Mr V. Welch. Accounts totalling £45 6s 8d were passed. It was reported that the school "rounds were receiving every attention. It was resolved to consider at the next meeting the advisability of holding some function at the school before the end of the present term. Advice was received from the Wellington Education Board regarding the proposed £1 for £1 subsidy for the purpose of providing reference books for the library. The headmaster reported the roll number to be 369. Satisfaction was expressed that this figure would place the school in the highest grade.
