The board of nomination of the Anglican Church in New Zealand has appointed the Rev H. C. Venimore, who is at present in England, to the parochial district of Gonville and Castlecliff, to fill the charge rendered vacant by the resignation of the Rev C. W. Solomon, which is to take effect as soon as the new vicar is appointed. It is expected that Mr Venimore will take up his new duties next year. Officials of local bodies in Masterton assembled at the Masterton County offices last evening to farewell Mr J. Sythes, assistant audit inspector in the Wairarapa for the past four years. Mr Sythes has been promoted on transfer to the Auckland district. On behalf of the gathering, Mr J. C. D. Mackley, Masterton County Clerk, made a presentation to Mr Sythes as a token of the regard in which he was held. Mr Sythes leaves Masterton today.

Members of the staff of the Union Steam Ship Company’s Dunedin branch met yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Mr A. A. Andrews, who has been transferred to Apia to take charge of the company’s branch there. Mr Andrews has been chief freight clerk in Dunedin for a considerable period and he will be succeeded by Mr C. F. Watson, at present assistant in the freight department. The manager of the Dunedin branch, Mr H. H. Dobie, on behalf of the staff, made a presentation to Mr Andrews.
