THEFT OF MONEY
» SALESMAN SENT TO GAOL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. On six charges of failing to account to Progress Motors Ltd., Wellington, for money received, totalling £lO7 15s, James Strachan Greig, salesman, aged 35, was convicted in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, yesterday. Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., was on the bench. On one ■ of the charges, that on March 26 in Featherston, having received from T. R. Ingley the sum of £26 in terms requiring him to account for or pay it to Progress Motors Ltd., he failed to do so, thereby committing theft, he was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. On the five remaining charges he was convicted and discharged. The five other charges, which were similar, were that on July 29 he received £lB 10s from W. Jeffery in Featherston, on July 1 he received £25 from Mary Jane Sheehan in Eketahuna, on May 3 in Featherston he received £2O from R. H. Simmons, on July 20 in Featherston he received £6 17s 6d from A. C. Noble, on August 8 he obtained £ll 7s 64 from Annie Williams.
