DAFFODIL SHOW
AMATEUR CLASSES. CARTERTON EXHIBITOR’S SUCCESS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The National Daffodil Society’s show, stated by authorities to be the best in the 12 years of its existence, was opened yesterday at Lower Hutt in conjunction with the annual spring show of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society. There was an improvement on former shows both in the number of exhibits and their high quality. The results proved conclusively that New Zealand-raised varieties were in the main superior to those imported from Great Britain, the judge selecting four of the five champions from New Zea-land-raised- blooms. Exhibitors from 'all parts of the North Island were represented. In the amateur classes the awards were as follow: —Twelve varieties: W. H. Booth, Carterton, 1; J. C. Glover, 2. Six varieties: W. H. Booth, 1; J. C. Glover, 2. Six red cups: W. H. Bootle, 1; J. C. Glover, 2. Six New Zealandraised: J. C. Glover, 1; I. M. Antunovic, 2; W. H. Booth, h.c. Six varieties, Aus-tralian-raised: Mrs M. Moorby, 1; J. C. •Glover, 2; W. H. Booth, h.c. Six Bri-tish-raised: J. C. Glover, 1; W. H. Booth, 2; Mrs M. Moorby, h.c. Champion barrii: W. H. Booth.
