FAREWELL FUNCTION (“Times-Age” Special.) Members of the St Andrew’s Ladies Guild and the many friends of Mrs McAllum and Miss Joy McAllum gathered at the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon to bid them farewell, as they leave for Eastbourne on Friday. Miss Dymes and members of the Guild welcomed Mrs and Miss McAllum on their arrival, and Mrs Ball presented them with dainty posies. During the afternoon a competition was held and Mrs Bowden won it. Much regret at the departure of Mrs and Miss McAllum was expressed by the Rev F. O. Ball, and Mrs E. B. Evans, and best wishes for a happy future were extended to them. Euchre Tournament. There was a fair attendance at the Radio Club’s euchre tournament last evening. The prize winners were: Ladies, Mrs L. Boyd, 1; Mrs Grimstone, 2; Men, Mr W. Blissett, 1; Mr J. Cowperthwaite, 2. Personal Items. Miss M. Davey returned to Martinborough yesterday after a short visit to her parents in Christchurch. Mrs Baucke, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs McCardle, has returned to her home at Paraparaumu.
