CENTRAL SCHOOL
MEETING OF PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Central School Parents’ Association was held in the Central School last evening. Mr G. Beecroft presided. The treasurer’s report showed that the finances of the association were in a healthy condition. The committee decided to purchase material for games for the girls and to provide uniform jerseys for members of the school trumpet band. The sum of £l3 7s 6d was passed for these two items. A deputation consisting of the secretary, Mr P. H. Shaw, and Messrs V. Bradley and F. Stains was appointed to wait upon the chairman of the school committee with a view to expediting the formation of cricket pitches in the boys’ recreation ground. The committee also decided, regarding the combined schools’ library, which was to be disbanded, that the cleaning up of old books, many of which were now of no use, should be expedited, so as to enable the association to form the nucleus of a Central School lending library. The secretary was instructed to write to that effect. The Headmaster, Mr E. G. Coddington, reported that good and steady progress was being maintained by the trumpet and drum band, and the boys of the school were very keen to become members.
