CONSUMPTION OF PETROL IN CANADA. OTTAWA, Canada. With more than one million automobiles in use in Canada in 1937 and 216,690 other motor vehicles including trucks, busses, tractors, etc, in operation, an indication of the extensive use of gasoline in the Dominion can be obtained. In addition to these, commercial aeroplanes in operation in the Dominion used 2,274,852 gallons of gasoline, motor boats used in the commercial fisheries and for pleasure purposes consumed large quantities as well as stationary engines used on farms, in lumbering and in small industries. It has been estimated that the total consumption of gasoline in Canada in 1937 amounted to 718,620,000 gallons. This compares with 624,116,000 gallons in 1936 and 534,782,000 gallons in 1935.
