CHARGE OF MURDER

YOUNG MAN ARRESTED IN MELBOURNE. DEATH OF MR F. W. SHERRY. MELBOURNE. September 7. Detectives inquiring into the murder of Mr F. W. Sherry have charged a young man with the crime. It was reported from Melbourne on September 2 that two bandits shot dead Mr F. W. Sherry in a Melbourne street in an attempt to steal the payroll of the Sherry Shoe Company. The thieves obtained only £l3O which was in the payroll bag. Mr Henry Thomas, driver of Mr Sherry’s car, who was knocked down on going to his assistance, escaped from the bandits with £550. Mr Sherry had stuffed the notes into Mr Thomas’s pockets during the chase. The police stated that Mr Sherry and his brother had a similar experience last March, when returning from the bank. They were pursued at high speed for .a mile and a half with a payroll of £6BO, finally escaping.
