PHYSICAL TRAINING

WAR OFFICE EXPERIMENT SUCCEEDS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 6. Soldiers who passed from the two recruits physical development depots to theii- regimental depots now number 1001. This passing of the thousand mark in about 16 months crowns the success of an enterprising War Office experiment. The objects of the Aidershot and Scarborough depots is to take as probationer recruits men who are not up to the standard of weight or chest and men on the border line with defects which might or might not be sufficiently bad to keep them out of the army, but which could possibly be treated and cured in a short while.
