POSTER COMPETITION

TERRITORIAL RECRUITING CAMPAIGN. A territorial recruiting poster design competition is being sponsored by the Army Headquarters, Wellington, with a view to stimulating the interest of the public in the territorial force. The posters must be suitable for public exhibition and must have for their object the maintenance of general public interest in the territorials and be suitable as a general recruiting poster. The designs should be for a poster 30 in. by 40in. and be applicable to all arms of the military forces. It is specially desired that the infantry arm be given a particularly prominent part in the publicity value. As the territorial force is for home defence, designs having a wartime or battle appeal are not desired. The competition will be divided into tvzo classes, one for serving members of the New Zealand military forces, in which suggestions or a design for a poster conveyed by a rough sketch will be accepted and an open class, entries in the latter to be a finished design in colour. Prizes of £5 5s first, £2 2s second and £1 Is third are offered for the restricted class and £lO 10s first, £5 5s second and £2 10s third-for the open class. Designs must be received by the Army Headquarters by November 1. Full information about the conditions of the competition is obtainable at the local Defence Office.
