FURY OF BATTLE

SPANISH REBELS LOSING HEAVILY ATTEMPTS TO PIERCE EBRO FRONT FRESH ITALIAN TROOPS ENGAGED. GERMAN ARTILLERY SUPPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, Nor»i.) LONDON, September 6. The “'Daily Telegraph’s” Barcelona correspondent says fighting is intensifying on the Ebro front as the rebels hurl against the loyalist positions 150,000 troops, which it is reported, include eight Italian divisions, many of whose men recently arrived from Italy. The rebels are supposed to have suffered 25,000 casualties on the Ebro front during the course of five weeks’ futile efforts to break through and 20,000 casualties on the Valencia front since July. Their efforts are only now partially succeeding because they are supported by quantities of German artillery.
