ESPERANTO
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. INCREASED USE OF LANGUAGE. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening in the club room 1 , Municipal Buildings, Mr A. Dewar, D.8.E.A., presiding over a good attendance. The secretary reported that correspondence in Esperanto received during the week included journals' from China and Belgium and printed matter from France, Iceland and Holland. In a brief talk to members, Mr W. H. King, Dominion Secretary, referred to the increasing use made of Esperanto abroad. Journals recently to hand reported that a technical dictionary has been published by the International Electro-technics Commission; the French postal administration has approved of the exhibition of Esperanto notices announcing that Esperanto may be used for the conduct of business; an Esperanto club has been formed among the staff of the firm of Selfridges, London, and named Selfridges’ Esperanto Club; the British postal administration has issued an 8page publication in Esperanto containing useful information regarding its postal services, rates, etc., and the French- Parliamentary Esperanto Club now has a membership of 121 .deputies.
The weekly tuition which followed embraced grammar study by means of the blackboard, substantial progress being reported. The concluding item, contributed by Mr E. J. Esler, was a reading in the international language of an article entitled “Estas plezuro lerni Esperanto.”
