MUSICAL MOMENTS
Patrons of popular entertainment are advised not to miss “Musical Moments” in the Opera House on Wednesday, September 7, at 8 p.m. Jean Mackay’s Piano-accordion Band has put in many hours of practice in order that they may excel themselves on this occasion. In view of the many favourable I’eceptions, Miss Mackay has received as soloist and with her band at charitable functions, the Opera House should be well filled on Wednesday evening to greet their performance. David Kalama (D. Gordon Paris), well known radio performer, together with his Hawaiian entertainers needs no further recommendation to New Zealand audiences, and his performance on the latest electric guitar will be an outstanding feature. Dorothy Tate’s clever ballet dancers (one of whom has just received an engagement with the Ballalaika Company at present touring the world), are well known for their charming performances. Supporting artists include Evelyn Miller, Betty Coleman, L.T.C.L., Yvonne Paris, Ola Curry, Evelyn Oliver and Ronald G. Gilbert. The programme is arranged with the view to making a wjde appeal and includes vocal, humorous, dramatic, instrumental and dancing in solos and ensembles. Two of Mr Gilbert’s numbers “Laughing Irish Eyes” and “The Merry Widow Waltz,” will be accompanied by Miss Jean Mackay on the piano-accordion in the first item and by her band in the second. The box plan is rapidly filling and seats may be reserved at the Arts and Crafts free of charge.
