SALES AT SYDNEY COMPETITION MORE GENERAL By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. SYDNEY, September 5. At the wool sales, 12,021 bales were offered, 10,520 being sold at auction and 1318 privately. Competition today was a little more general with prices firm at the closing rates of last week. Continental buying again predominated, with good support from Japan. Greasy merino made 16d. The average price of wool last week was £l2 11s 3d a bale and 9.4 d a lb.
