HAWKE'S BAY-WAIRARAPA CENTRE. ? ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, September 4. The annual meeting of the Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa centre of the New Zealand Athletic, Cycling and Axemen’s Union was held at Waipukurau on Saturday, delegates from sports clubs throughout the district attending. The Dominion secretary, Mr A. D. Macartney, and Mrs Macartney were also present. The president, Mr J. W. Watkins, Ashley Clinton, presided. Delegates attended a demonstration of a machine for automatically judging axemen’s events, and it was decided to recommend the machine to-sports clubs. The resignation of the official handicapper, Mr D. L. Howse, was accepted, and Mr H. Worsnop was appointed to take his place. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £6'- 18s lid, against £4 19s 2d last year. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr J. Chambers, Havelock North; president, Mr J.
