HOOD AT GIBRALTAR

PRESENCE OF FLAG OFFICER DESIRABLE. FOLLOWING ON INSURGENT VISIT. (Recd This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, September 4. The battle-cruiser Hood, three destroyers and one submarine have gone to Gibraltar. It is understood that it is thought desirable, in view of the Jose Luiz Diez incident, that there should be a British flag officer in the vicinity. It w’as reported last week that Spanish rebel warships approached Gibraltar, but retired when a British destroyer sounded the alarm.
