WOMAN WINS AMERICAN AIR DERBY NINE MALE COMPETITORS DEFEATED SUBSTANTIAL PRIZE-MONEY CLEVELAND, September 3. Jacqueline Cochran, New York, crossed the finishing line here eight' hours, 10 minutes, 31.4 seconds after leaving Los Angeles to win the 9000-dollars first prize in the 30,000-dollar Bendix air derby against nine male rivals. After pausing half an hour here the winner continued to Bendix (New Jersey), thus making her total winnings, 12,500 dollars, of which 2500 is for being the first woman finishing and 1000 for continuing to Bendix.
