General situation: An anticyclone of moderate intensity extends from the north-west Tasman Sea across the South Island and is moving slowly eastward. Pressure has fallen considerably over south-eastern Australia. Forecast, light to moderate southerly to south-easterly winds, later tending to northerly; some scattered rain at first in eastern areas but otherwise fair to fine; temperatures cold with some frosts. SUMMARY FOR AUGUST. Miss A.
