WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
SOLWAY-MANAIA MEETING. The monthly meeting of the SolwayManaia Women’s Institute was held on Thursday last. Mrs Munn (president) extended a warm welcome to all visitors. Apologies for absence were received from Misses Wise and Billington, Mesdam.es Cotton, Nicol, Carruth-, ers and McKenzie. Mrs Munn was thanked for her most interesting report on the Wellington Conference. A dainty afternoon tea was served, and was followed by a talk on electric appliances given by Mr W. Russell of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board. A meeting of the Garden Circle will be held at Mrs Munn’s residence on Thursday, September 15. Competition results were:—Flowers: Mrs Woollett, 1; Mrs Welber, 2. Mrs Munn special. Cooking: Mrs Woollett, 1; Mrs Allen, 2. The October hostesses will be Mrs Doggett, Mrs Copp, Mrs McLachlan, Mrs J. Davis. The competitions for October are: Cooking, Napoleon cake, sewing collection of Christmas gifts. Flowers, your best bloom. Roll call, “The hobby which gives me most pleasure.”
