TOURNAMENT AT TIMARU RESULTS OF TODAY’S PLAY. WAIRARAPA BEATEN BY SOUTHLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, This Day. The concluding games of the Dominion tourney are being played on the indoor court at the Timaru Boys’ High School gymnasium, rain making outdoor play impossible. To enable the tourney to be completed this afternoon the spells in the first grade matches were reduced to 15 minutes each, with a five-minute interval, instead of 20-minute spells and 10-minute intervals. The second and third grades played only 10-minute spells without intervals. The undersized court cramped the passing movements and players played with less confidence resulting in much slower games. Results were as follow:— First grade: Otago 12, Auckland 7; Wellington 19, Otago 3. Second grade: Ashburton 10, Waikato 9; South Canterbury 9, Manawatu 5; Southland 10, Wairarapa 6. Third grade: West Coast 9, Wanganui 9.
