There are 1150 houses in the borough of Hawera, and the borough council this year issued 1194 drivers’ licences. In mentioning the fact while welcoming North Island Motor Union conference delegates at Hawera, the Mayor, Mr J. E. Campbell, said the population of the Hawera postal district was 10,480, and car registrations to date were 2620, an average of one vehicle to each four persons.
