Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.84, Shade temperature: Maximum 60.3, minimum 44.4, terrestrial 35.7. Sunshine, 5 hours 32 minutes. Rain, 8 points. Solway.—Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 8 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. General situation: A depression is centred this morning just west of Cook Strait. An anti-cyclone still covers eastern Australia and the western Tasman Sea, but the centre has moved southwards, thus favouring southerly rather than south-westerly winds over New Zealand. Forecast: Moderate to strong southerly to south-easterly winds. Weather: Clovudy to overcast and rain probable, but improving tomorrow. Temperatures cool.
