RUMANIAN WHEAT
BIG PURCHASE BY BRITISH FIRM (Recd This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, August 30. The “Daily Telegraph” says a contract has been completed, by the Rumanian Government with an important British grain firm to supply Britain with a third of Rumania’s exportable wheat surplus, valued at two millions sterling. Forty per cent of the purchase price is being paid into a clearing account to reduce outstanding debts to Britain, another forty per cent being used to finance the import of additional British goods.
