No Bankruptcies.
No bankruptcies were recorded in Wairarapa during August. Since the beginning of the year there have been two bankruptcies, one at Featherston and one at Masterton. Hastings Park Praised. “It is an area as near a perfectlybalanced park as I know of,” said the Hastings borough superintendent of parks and reserves, Mr J. G. C. Mackenzie, referring to Cornwall Park, Hastings, in an address to members of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce. Associated with Mr Mackenzie was Mr A. I. Rainbow, chairman of the borough reserves committee. After a brief outline of the history of' the park, land for which was given to the borough by the late Archdeacon Samuel Williams, Mr Mackenzie said that since its development it had been the main beauty spot and recreation area for the town. It contained a large sportsground, children’s playground, aviary and 12 acres of gardens, which were now becoming all too small for displaying the many beautiful trees and shrubs available. Since the introduction of the Saturday half-holiday the park was being visited by more people than ever.
