HOMEMADE VINEGAR
WELL-TRIED RECIPE. Here is a well-tried recipe for homemade vinegar: Boil 4 or 5 quarts of water, and let it cool. Stir in lib treacle, 11b brown sugar, pour into a jar, and add the jelly-like “plant” or “mother.” Cover with muslin to exclude flies. It is ready for use in a few months, when the process may be repeated.
