EX-KING ALFONSO INVITED TO RETURN. AS PUPPET TO FRANCO. LONDON, August 28. The Basle correspondent of the “Daily Herald” says that General Franco has invited Alfonso, former King of Spain, to return to Spain in the event of the rebels winning the civil war. It is understood that King Alfonso refused, as he does not agree to General Franco’s terms, which leave him in the same role to General Franco as that of King Victor Emmanuel to Signor Mussolini in Italy.
