WEDDING

SECORD—CARPENTER. A quiet wedding took place at the Church of Epiphany on Saturday afternoon when ■ Edna Mabel, second daughter of Mr and . Mrs B. M. Carpenter, of Masterton, was married to Charles William, youngest son of Mrs Secord and the late Mr R. Secord of Wanganui. The Rev E. J. Rich officiated and Mrs W. Perry presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a pretty blue model ensemble trimmed with grey fur. She wore a blue hat with circular - shoulder veil and carried a beautiful bouquet of pink hyacinths and maiden hair fern. Attending the bride was the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Jessie Secord, of Wanganui. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr George Secord, of Palmerston North.

On leaving the church the bride was I presented with a lucky horse shoe by Miss Pat Barttlet, of Napier. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride’s parents, where the bride’s mother received her guests wearing a smart London tan ensemble with hat to tone and brown fur, and carried a posy of freesias. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy and silver tunic frock and navy hat and carried a posy of red anemones.

Mr and Mrs C. W. Secord later left by car for Auckland, the latter wearing a suit of petrol blue and fox furs with accessories to tone. Their future home will be in Wanganui.
