AIR LINER RAISED
PROOF OF JAPANESE OUTRAGE. TEN BODIES RIDDLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The following cablegram from Hankow has been received by the Chinese 1 Consul:—The international air liner which was attacked and forced down by the Japanese and sank in the river has been salvaged. It showed innumerable bullet holes. The bodies of ten passengers, including two noted Chinese bankers, have been recovered. All the bodies are riddled with bullets. The enemy, in an attack on Jiuchang, used poison gas, causing losses among our troops. We took up a, new line north and west of Jiuchang and on the hills west of this city. Severe fighting, which has been to our advantage, is continuing at these two places. Three hundred Japanese at Niuweitun were surrounded and annihilated after three days’ fighting.
