The Chinese Embassy alleges a further Japanese gas attack at Juichang on August 23. WAR OFFICE DENIAL POSSIBLE USE OF HARMLESS SMOKE-SCREEN. (Recd This Day, 9.35 a.m.) TOKIO, August- 26. A War Office spokesman denies the use of poison gas, though a smokescreen of a harmless nature was possibly employed.
