SALE AT FEILDING. FALL IN PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, August 26. There was an oversupply of fat sheep at the Feilding stock sale today. A total offering of more than 2000 head caused a fall in prices, and store hoggets also suffered a setback of about 2s a head. There was a big yarding of store hoggets also, and this was probably a factor in the market. The cattle department was firm, with dairy stock meeting a keen demand at advanced prices. Beef opened at a firm figure and the demand for some wellfinished young cows made attractive prices. Realisations were: — Sheep: Prime hoggets, 22s 2d; to 25s 6d; second grade, 20s to 21s 2d; unfinished, 15s 4d to 18s lid; prime lambs, 235; lighter, 18s 9d; prime heavy wethers, 27s to 30s 6d; lighter prime, 24s 6d to 26s 4d; medium-weights, 22s 6d to 245; light, 19s to 21s Id; extra prime maiden ewes, 24s to 265; lighter, 21s 8d; wether hoggets, well grown, 19s 8d to 22s 6d; second grade, 17s to 19s sd; small, 14s 6d to 16s 6d; best ewes, 30s to 32s Id; second quality, 27s 3d to 29s 6d; backward, 19s Id to 26s 9d; b.f. ewes, best, 15s Id to 17s; others, 10s to 13s 9d. Cattle: Dairy stock, springing heifers, best, £lO 12s 6d to £l2 ss; good, £8 2s 6d to £9 17s 6d; others, £5 to £7 15s; heifers, in milk, £5 10s to £9 10s; springing cows, forward, £8 10s to £lO 10s; later calvers, £5 to £7 15s. Store cattle: Boner cows, best weights, £3 15s to £4 12s 6d; light, £1 to £3 12s 6d; potter bulls, £6 ss; yearling heifers, good, £4 10s to £4 12s 6d; smaller, £2 12s 6d to £3 12s 6d; weaner steers, £3 10s; Holstein steers, £6 15s. Fat cattle: Holstein bullocks, heavy prime, £l3 10s; light, £9 17s 6d; prime finished Red Poll cows, £9 to £9 12s 6d; second grade, £7 10s; good runners, £6 2s 6d; small, £3 17s 6d; vealers, £3 ss. Poultry; Hens, 2s to 4s 6d; cockerels, 2s to 4s lid; pullets, 3s lOd to 4s 3d; ducks, 3s to 3s 6d; cockerel chicks, 4d. CARTERTON SALE. GOOD DEMAND FOR PIGS. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—A small yarding of sheep and a good yarding of cattle and pigs came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday, there being a large attendance of buyers. There was a good inquiry for 3-year heifers on drop, the top price being £ll 10s. All classes of pigs sold exceptionally well and we report a total clearance at the following prices:— \ Sheep.—Woolly wr hoggets, 17s 2d, 19s 2d to 22s 6d; woolly ewe hoggets, to 27s 6d; fat ewes, to 17s.
