Mrs Terry Vangioni. of Wellington, is on a visit to Masterton. Miss Flora Drysdale is spending the school vacation at Nireaha. A visitor to Morrinsville is Miss Allen, of Konini. Miss B. Tolley, of Feilding, is visiting Hukanui. Mrs .1. Cross, of Pahiatua, is visiting Masterton. Mrs Sutton, of Kohinui, is on holiday at Waitarere Beach. Mrs W. Olsen, of Kohinui, has as her guest Miss Rita Griffiths. Miss M. Knibb, of Hukanui, is on a visit to Geraldine, South Island. Miss G. Suisted, of Pahiatua, has been appointed to the nursing staff of the Masterton Hospital. Mrs A. Hutchinson, of Epsom, Auckland, is on a visit to Pahiatua, and is the guest of Mrs J. W. Sturton. Miss M. Irwin is a Wellington visitor to Pahiatua, being the guest of Mrs (Dr) Paterson. Miss Jean Gardiner, who was on a visit to Masterton, has returned to Pahiatua. Miss Judy Christian, Palmerston North, has returned from a holiday as the guest of her sister, Mrs N. Lamont, Masterton. The many friends of Miss Clare McGahan, of Martinborough, who is a patient in the Masterton Public Hospital, will be pleased to learn she is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. At the annual meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society Mr A. O. Jones made reference to the excellent work carried out by Mrs Irwin as treasurer. Mrs Irwin’s duties had been of a very onerous character but she had carried them out in such a manner as to considerably lighten his task as auditor. He could not let the occasion pass without paying a tribute, to Mrs Irwin for the particularly able manner in which she had performed the many duties associated with her office.
ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Phyllis Marjorie, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. L. Hessell, Masterton, to William Edward, elder son of Mr and Mrs W. J- Cody, Masterton.
CARTERTON Miss P. Walk, of the Dental Clinic staff, Eltharn, who is spending a vacation in the Wairarapa, was a visitor to Carterton yesterday. Miss Mary Lawrence, who is a student at the Solway College, is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. A. B. Lawrence, Park Road, Carterton.
Visitors to Carterton for the TuohyWilliams wedding tomorrow will include Mr and Mrs R. A. Clarke, Rongotea, Mr and Mrs J. J. Evans, Lower Hutt, Mr A. L. Curry (an uncle and announcer at 3YA, Christchurch), Miss D. Ryder, Napier, Mr C. Gebbie, Napier, Miss L. Foster, Wellington, Mr E. Eaton, Wellington, Misses Jean Smith and Cletus Tuohy, Wellington. GREYTOWN Mrs G. Burns, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Greytown today. Mrs C. Mexted, who has been staying with Mrs H. G. Carter, has returned. to Tawa Flat. Mrs W. Carwell Cooke and family, of Palmerston North, are staying with Mrs C. F. Duff, Main Street.
