RESOLUTION BY POPULAR FRONT DEFENCE NEEDS AND SOCIAL LEGISLATION READINESS TO COMPROMISE INDICATED (Recd This Day, 12.35 p.m.) PARIS, August 25. The National Committee of the Popular’ Front passed a resolution expressing an unanimous determination to maintain the Popular Front against reaction and Fascism, to uphold the inviolability of social legislation and to satisfy all the needs of national defence. The interpretation of the resolution is that it not only leaves the door open to compromise, but implies that a solution can be found reconciling Socialist susceptibilities and the defence programme.
