ELECTRIC POWER

PRODUCTION IN FRANCE. From 15 billion 339 million kilowatts furnished by the electricity generating installations of France in 1930, electric production rose in 1936 to 16 billion, 59 million kilowatts, of which 7 billion, 823 million kilowatts were generated by steam power, and 8 billion, 836 million kilowatts by hydraulic power. The proportion of steam-power generated electricity to hydraulic was, in 1930, 19 pei; cent higher. In 1936, the hydraulic-power production was 14 per cent higher than steam-power generated electricity. Between 1930 and 1936 the power of hydraulic plants increased from 2,328,000 to 3, 744,000 kilowatts, an increase of 62 per cent.
