WEDDING

CAMERON—STEPHENS. At St Mary’s Church, Carterton, on Saturday, Mr William John Cameron, son of Mr and Mrs W. Cameron, of Edinburgh, Scotland was married to Miss Sarah Stephens, only daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Stephens, Motueka. The bride, who entered the church escorted by Mr W. J. Dwane, was dressed in a gown of bridal satin cut on classical lines, and carried a bouquet of lily of the valley and freesias. She was attended by Miss Edna Newbould, who wore a frock of heliotrope net over satin, with coronet and bouquet to tone. Mr R. J. Fisher was best man. The Nuptial Mass, a “Missa Cantata,” was celebrated by the Rev Father Carmine, who also officiated at the marriage. The Mass “Cum Jubilo” was beautifully rendered by the children’s choir, while Misses Pat Theobold and Maureen O’Reilly sang “Ave Maria” at the Offertory. Two English hymns sung during the Thanksgiving and the signing of the register were “O Mary, Before Thine Altar,” and Dr Walsh’s “Marriage Hymn.” The wedding breakfast was held at St Mary’s Presbytery where the usual toasts were duly honoured. Mr and Mrs Cameron left later by car on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a tailored costume of air force blue, with hat and accessories to tone. Their future home will, be in Motueka.
