ALFREDTON

HECKLER FOOTBALL CUP. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Saturday last a team of Alfredton footballers journeyed to Tiraumea and played a match against Tiraumea, the holders of the Heckler Cup. The game, which is an annual one, is looked forward to with great interest, and this year provided one of the fastest and most spectacular contests ever witnessed for the cup. A very even game resulted in a win for Tiraumea by 6 points to 3. For Tiraumea H. MeMannaway scored a try and N. Hislop kicked a penalty goal. H. George kicked a penalty goal for Alfredton. Mr Denby, of Pongaroa, controlled the game. After the match the Alfredton team were entertained’ at afternoon tea by the Tiraumea ladies. Mr H. Genge, captain of the Alfredton team, thanked the Tiraumea ladies for their hospitality. The team were also the guests of the Tiraumea Football Club at a social gathering in the evening, when a very pleasant time was spent, bringing to a close a most eventful day. GOLF CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. TThe Alfredton Golf Club has commenced the initial rounds of the club championship. , PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs Bicknell and family are leaving the district and intend to make their home in Plimmerton. Mrs Bicknell was the recipient of a presentation from the Anglican Church members in recognition of her valuable services as organist.
