PAHIATUA SALE
HOGGETS ADVANCE IN PRICE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly sale at Pahiatua, when a good yarding of sheep and an average yarding of cattle, principally dairy sorts, were offered. Hoggets were in keen demand and sold readily at prices in advance of ruling rates. Two-tooth wethers and store ewes were harder to quit and prices remained at last week’s level. The top price of the sale for woolly wether hoggets was 20s Id obtained for a line of IG3 offered on behalf of Messrs Jas. Piper and Co., while the same vendors realised 26s 5d for a line of 163 medium woolly ewe hoggets. Pigs were again in keen demand and sold readily at recent rates. Quotations: —Best woolly wether hoggets, 20s Id; mediun). sorts, 17s 9d, 18s sd: small, 10s; medium shorn wether hoggets, 17s; lower conditioned, Ils 4d; medium woolly ewe hoggets, 26s sd; small, 19s 4d; cull ewes r.w. Romney ram, 13s 3d; forward condition 2-th. wethers, 22s 7d. Pigs: Good slips, 30s. Dairy cattle failed to maintain last week’s levels and passings were fairly frequent.
